Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2 NKJV
Never underestimate the power of a single track! *Stub Stewart State Park has a system of single tracks that weave up, down, and around a beautiful forest in Oregon. It’s located near the Seaside coast. The trails are great for beginners, intermediate riders, and advanced riders who can enjoy varied loops over and over. Riders should be prepared for a fun challenge; it’s a great trail network to ride alone or with your mt. bike friends. Stub Stewart is just one of Oregon’s great bike trail systems. The rides always leave me with the “I want to go back soon,” feeling!
The Henry Hagg Lake trail runs along the perimeter of the lake and over a dam. At approximately 13.6 miles, it has patches of forest, grassy areas, and some technical sections. My first ride around Hagg Lake was with a group of riders I met up with while unloading my bike in the parking lot. It was great to encounter a group with first-timers and experienced riders. I continued to ride the trail alone, at first; and now with my daughter, practicing sections as many times as we want to, not bound to a particular time limit. FUN! I am glad to have found such a beautiful retreat so close to home.
At present, my newest trail rides are in Bend, OR. Phil’s Trail, and Sunriver, Benham Falls trails. Both trails are fast and fun! I’m looking forward to riding the Sandy Ridge trails near Mount Hood. Ever been?
My personal prayer is that I will refuse to think that I cannot learn, grow, continue to enjoy life, even when challenges come my way. I look to you, Lord Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith. Thank you for the gift of mountain biking, the gift of life, and the price you paid for all of it.
